Kingsdown's ladies come second to previous finalist in Annodata National Matchplay Competition

Congratulations to the Kingsdown Ladies B team for reaching the fifth round of the Annodata National Matchplay Competition.  The club entered two ladies teams into this National competition with the A team, led by Viv Monument, having a bye in the first round, and going to West Wilts in the second round where despite a valiant effort lost 3&2.

The B team,  led by Carol Jones, travelled to Minehead winning 3&2, then followed Saltford at home resulting in a win 3&2, Filton at home 31/2 / 11/2 and Henbury at home 3&2.

The fifth round draw produced Bude away, so the team of Carol Jones, Lesley Hooper, Jan Scott, Denise Adlington and Katie Dove-Medows, headed down on Friday evening following a scratch match, to play Saturday morning.  After a closely fought campaign on an extremely difficult links course, Kingsdown came second on the day, with Bude, a previous finalist in the competition, winning 41/2 to 1/2.

A fantastic achievement by all who took part in both teams and we’re looking forward to picking up the baton in next year’s competition.
